Our automated trading platform's Portfolio Dashboard gives you real-time insights into your trading activities, position performance, and overall portfolio health. This central hub is essential for tracking the effectiveness of your algorithmic trading strategies and making data-driven decisions.

Accessing the Portfolio Dashboard

To access the Portfolio Dashboard:

  1. Log in to your Investfly account
  2. Click on Portfolio in the main navigation menu
  3. Select Dashboard from the dropdown menu

The dashboard will display information for either your virtual portfolio or connected broker account, depending on which one you have selected as active.

Dashboard Sections

Portfolio Summary

The top section of the dashboard provides a snapshot of your portfolio's current state:

  • Total portfolio value
  • Cash balance
  • Invested amount
  • Overall profit/loss (absolute and percentage)
  • Day's gain/loss

Performance Charts

Visual representations of your portfolio's performance:

  • Portfolio value over time
  • Comparison to market benchmarks
  • Profit/loss distribution
  • Sector allocation
  • Asset class breakdown

Open Positions

Detailed view of your current holdings:

  • Symbol and company name
  • Quantity and average cost
  • Current market value
  • Unrealized profit/loss
  • Day's change (absolute and percentage)

Recent Transactions

History of your recent trading activities:

  • Buy and sell orders
  • Date and time of execution
  • Symbol and quantity
  • Price and total value
  • Strategy name (for automated trades)

Risk Analytics

The Risk Analytics section provides insights into your portfolio's risk exposure:

  • Volatility Metrics: Standard deviation of returns, beta, and maximum drawdown
  • Concentration Risk: Indicators showing if your portfolio is overly concentrated in specific securities, sectors, or asset classes
  • Correlation Matrix: Shows how your holdings correlate with each other and with major market indices
  • Value-at-Risk (VaR): Estimates the potential loss in value of your portfolio over a defined period for a given confidence interval

Customizing Your Dashboard

Widget Management

You can personalize the Portfolio Dashboard to focus on the metrics most relevant to your algorithmic trading strategies:

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper right corner of any widget
  2. Select Edit to modify the widget's settings
  3. Select Minimize to collapse the widget
  4. Select Close to remove the widget from your dashboard

Adding Widgets

  1. Click the + button in the upper right corner of the dashboard
  2. Select from the available widget types, such as:
    • Performance metrics
    • Strategy returns comparison
    • Position heatmap
    • Trade history
    • Sector allocation
  3. Configure the widget settings as desired
  4. Click Add Widget to place it on your dashboard

Saving Layouts

Premium users can save multiple dashboard layouts for different purposes:

  1. Customize your dashboard with your preferred widgets and arrangements
  2. Click Save Layout from the dashboard menu
  3. Name your layout (e.g., "Performance Focus," "Risk Analysis," "Strategy Comparison")
  4. Access saved layouts from the dashboard dropdown menu
Pro Tip: Create different dashboard layouts for different market conditions or to focus on specific aspects of your trading, such as performance tracking, risk management, or strategy comparison.

Strategy Performance Analysis

For users with automated trading strategies, the dashboard provides detailed performance metrics for each strategy:

  • Strategy Returns: Track how each algorithmic strategy is performing over time
  • Comparative Analysis: Compare the performance of different strategies against each other and market benchmarks
  • Win/Loss Ratio: See the success rate of each strategy's trade signals
  • Average Holding Period: Understand how long each strategy typically holds positions

Position Management

Directly manage your positions from the dashboard:

  • Quick Trade: Execute buy or sell orders for existing positions with a single click
  • Stop Loss/Take Profit: Set or modify exit conditions for your positions
  • Position Details: View detailed information about any position, including entry rationale, associated strategy, and performance metrics

Reporting

Generate comprehensive reports on your portfolio performance:
